Putting the 'alley' back in The Mohawk Valley!
he Bentwood Rockers are an acoustic duo specializing in old-time country, hokum, Piedmont blues and traditional folk: music from the early days of the recording industry.
Between them, Bill Ackerbauer and Roland Vinyard play a variety of acoustic instruments -- fiddle, guitars, many kinds of banjos, mandolin, autoharp, harmonica. They have a stage presence that is both casual and engaging, scholarly and humorous.
Bill performs throughout the Capital Region as a solo act and with other groups, including The Insolent Willies and The Dog House Carpenters.
Roland, an agricultural real estate tycoon, has played music for way too many years, both solo and with a variety of groups.
Bill and Roland both live in New York’s beautiful Mohawk Valley. Performing as The Bentwood Rockers gives them an outlet for their mutual obsession with the sublime rustic-roots sounds of the 1920s and '30s.
